Groom's Cake Smoothie
I dream about this smoothie. I drink it for breakfast. I drink it for lunch. I drink it for a snack. I would drink it every day. It’s the perfect start to your day. It’s a great pre-workout snack. You can make it ahead of time and put it in the fridge and drink it on the go. Basically, it’s perfect!
I create all my smoothies using Kelly LeVeque’s formula of protein, fat, fiber, and greens. This is such a simple concept but truly so genius. I even look at my dinner plate often and see if I have those four elements. In this smoothie, the protein is Primal Kitchen's Primal Fuel protein powder, fat is MCT oil, fiber is ground flaxseeds, and greens are spinach.
A few notes about the ingredients I used for this smoothie. You can use any chocolate protein powder you wish, but Primal Kitchen's is my favorite. It is low carb and delicious! I also like Vega protein and greens.
The Four Sigmatic Superfood Adaptogen Blend is not a necessity for this smoothie, but it is a great addition! You can certainly leave this out but adaptogens are great for stress: emotional, environmental, and stress from any poor food choices. Four Sigmatic products are made of mushrooms and it doesn't taste like mushrooms. I can't taste the powder when I add it to smoothies.
You can use any collagen you like or skip it completely. I use Vital Proteins because it is the most high quality brand I've found and I personally make sure I get at least a scoop a day. It helps with hair, skin, nails, joints, and more. I'll do a post on this later.
I use Malk almond milk because it only has 3 ingredients and is free of artificial additives and gums. Any milk will do!
This smoothie was inspired by my husband’s wedding cake. It was chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and raspberry filling… SO GOOD! My mouth is watering. This smoothie is a perfect sweet treat without refined sugar! Can it get any better?
Pop all your ingredients in the blender and blend on high speed until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy or pop it in the fridge and save for later! Enjoy!
- 1/4 cup raspberries
- 1 cup Malk almond milk
- 1/2 cup or a handful spinach
- 1 Tablespoon flax seeds
- 1 Tablespoon MCT oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Four Sigmatic superfood adaptogen blend
- 1 scoop Vital Proteins unflavored collagen peptides
- 1 Tablespoon raw honey
- 1 Tablespoon raw cacao
- 1 scoop Primal Kitchen's Primal Fuel, chocolate coconut
- 3 ice cubes
